12 Ways to Engage with Arts Month

October is Arts Month, and there's no better time to have a new cultural experience with family or friends! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

1. Attend the Artini

Friday, September 28 | 5:30-8:30 p.m. | The Mining Exchange Hotel

The Artini is the Arts Month Kickoff Party – a free, community celebration with live entertainment on multiple stages, lots of mixing & mingling, and the opportunity to sample signature martinis created by some of the area’s top mixologists. Art + Martini = Artini!

2. Join the fun at the Iron Pour

Saturday, September 29 | 4-10 p.m. | Monument

Carve tile molds and have them cast in iron at the big iron pour event! Those who would like to participate by carving a tile prior to the iron pour event may do so at one of the instructional workshops. Workshops are every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. leading up to the event on September 29.

3. Play the Arts Month Bingo Game

Throughout October

Post selfies of accomplished BINGO tasks on Instagram or Facebook and tag #ArtsOctober and @PeakRadar. Be the first 100 to earn a bingo that is horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, and WIN free Ent Center for the Arts tickets from our prize bucket, along with one entry into the 2018 Dream Date for the Arts Sweepstakes.

5. Check out Cripple Creek’s Art in the Park

Saturday, October 6 | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Cripple Creek

Come help the City of Cripple Creek celebrate Arts Month by enjoying a variety of events in the charming “pocket park” located next to Cripple Creek City Hall located on Bennett Avenue.

6. Be present when Arts Month Proclamations are read

Throughout October

We work closely with our elected officials to recognize and promote the importance of Arts Month through formal public proclamations in nine area municipalities.

7. Check out ArtPOP performances

Throughout October

The ArtPOP program will feature 20 different “pop-up” art performances and presentations at various locations throughout the community!

8. Come to the Pikes Peak Litter Letter Project Unveiling

October 3 | 11:30 a.m. | NW Corner of Hwy 24 and 21st St

Come to the dedication of the Pikes Peak Litter Letter Project and witness the unveiling of the work “INSPIRE” created with letters built from a giant metal frame and filled with trash gathered from our very own local trails. If you come at 11:30 a.m., help to finish the last letter!

9. Buy a ticket to the Business & Arts Lunch

October 5 | 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Antlers Hotel

The annual Business & Arts Lunch is always one of the most colorful professional events of the year, featuring live performances on multiple stages, local art for sale, delicious food and drink, and a celebration of the intersections of business and creativity.

10. Ride the First Friday Shuttle Bus

October 5 | 5-8 p.m. | Downtown Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City, and Manitou Springs

Enjoy Art Walks in three municipalities! Park near any shuttle bus stop location, then hop on, hop off!

11. Enjoy PetchaKucha at MACnificent

October 13 | 5:30 to 10 p.m. | Manitou Art Center

MACnificent is the annual gala and fundraiser for the Manitou Art Center. This year we are celebrating 30 years of artistic passion with a PechaKucha night of fast-paced presentations.

12. Attend the PPAC Awards

October 16 | 5-8 p.m. | Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College

Each year, the Pikes Peak Arts Council honors outstanding creative performances and exhibitions of the region at the PPAC Awards. This red carpet event celebrates vibrant and innovative literary, visual, theater, music, film, and dance artists, as well as arts advocates and organizations.
